Continued Detention and Uncertainty for Six Political Detainees in Shiban Prison, Ahvaz

The uncertainty and detention of Eman Jalalinezad, Jafar Salmanizad, Mehdi Memar, Mohammad Salamat, Rastin Ghavani, and Mahshid Lotfi, political detainees, continues in Shiban Prison, Ahvaz. According to "Hrana," the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, these six political detainees have been imprisoned in this facility for four months. Based on information received by Hrana, Eman Jalalinezad, Jafar Salmanizad, Mehdi Memar, Mohammad Salamat, Rastin Ghavani, and Mahshid Lotfi, who are involved in a joint case, remain in detention without trial nearly four months after their arrest. These individuals, along with three other female detainees, were previously accused of "propaganda against the regime" and "membership in opposition groups" at the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz. Eman Jalalinezad, 33, born in Zahedan and from Birjand, a graduate in painting, a teacher, and a member of the Amir Kabir Technical School Council in Ahvaz, was arrested by security forces on April 8, 2023, at the entrance of Ahvaz. He was transferred from the quarantine section of Shiban Prison to the security section of the prison in early June of this year. Jafar Salmanizad, 26, Mehdi Memar, a mechanical engineering student, Mohammad Salamat, 22, Rastin Ghavani, 22, and Mahshid Lotfi, 21, all from Ahvaz, were separately arrested by security forces at the beginning of this year. Raina Korkor was released on bail from Evin Prison. Continued pressure on teachers and cultural activists in Iran; Sara Siyahpour was summoned to the Revolutionary Court.
