Continued Detention of Four Political Prisoners in Sanandaj; Denied Access to Lawyer and Family Visits

A human rights organization reported that Abdullah Rahnavard, Hossein Saedmocheshi, Hamed Amini, and Rashad Parvizi, four Kurdish citizens, remain in detention after several weeks. According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, these four political prisoners were arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic in the cities of 'Marivan, Mochesh, and Kamyaran' in late Bahman of this year and are still imprisoned in the detention centers of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Sanandaj. Since their arrest, they have been deprived of their 'right to access a lawyer' and 'visits with their families.' The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that two children of Hossein Saedmocheshi, one of the detainees, are members of one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Islamic Republic, and a brother of Hamed Amini was previously a member of one of the Kurdish opposition parties and was killed several years ago in a clash with Turkish army forces. According to this report, Rashad Parvizi is also a member of the cultural-social association 'Nozhin.' Based on statistics collected by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, at least '54 Kurdish citizens and activists' were arrested by security agencies in various cities of the provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and West Azerbaijan last month on political and ideological charges. Most of the detainees remain in detention or prison, and there is no information about the fate of some of them. Meanwhile, '8 individuals' among the detainees have also been transferred to prison for 'execution of sentences.' In recent decades, the Islamic Republic has always tried to portray its crackdown on opponents and protesters in different regions of Iran as ethnically, ideologically, or purely regionally motivated.
