Continued Pressure on Families Seeking Justice; A Member of Reza Moazemi-Goodarzi's Family Arrested

Continuing the Islamic Republic's pressure on victims and families seeking justice, Farzad Moazemi-Goodarzi, the cousin of Reza Moazemi-Goodarzi, one of the victims of the November 2019 protests, was arrested. According to the Center for Legal Consultation and Education for Activists, Dadban, Farzad Moazemi-Goodarzi was arrested on Tuesday, September 5, after security forces raided his home in Borujerd. Dadban added that "Farzad has made many efforts to seek justice for Reza's blood." Additionally, Reza Norouzi, a constitutionalist political activist, was arrested on Friday, September 7, and Hossein Hosseinpour, a victim of the deliberate shooting by the Islamic Republic's security forces at protesters, was also arrested on Wednesday night, September 6. In recent weeks, as the first anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody of the morality police approaches, pressures on the families of human rights activists and the families of victims have intensified, and several of them have been arrested. Reports have also emerged regarding pressure on political prisoners and civil and labor activists in various parts of Iran. In this context, relatives of some of the victims from last year's protests told Voice of America that the intelligence agencies responsible for suppressing protests have warned the families of the deceased not to appear in public places on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini. Furthermore, Amjad Amini, Mahsa Amini's father, stated in an interview with the Persian section of Voice of America that they plan to hold a memorial for his daughter, saying: "To honor the name and memory of the martyr and innocent Zhina (Mahsa) and to bring peace to the family and relatives and all her supporters, we intend to hold the anniversary ceremony this year. However, given the circumstances, we cannot officially call on people to attend the ceremony or tell them not to participate."
