Continued Protests by Official Employees at the Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company

Official employees at the Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company in Khuzestan province protested again on Tuesday, October 17, in response to the management's neglect of their demands. According to the Telegram channel 'Oil Thoughts', (an information platform for the demands of official oil industry employees in Iran), oil workers at various companies and oil and gas platforms have been protesting weekly, but this week the protests have been held daily. The official employees of the Ministry of Oil working in operational centers are demanding 'the removal of the salary cap, the elimination of retirement benefits restrictions, and the return of excess tax deductions.' The report also indicates that on Sunday, October 15, official employees of the Ministry of Oil held a protest at the Abuzar platform of the Offshore Oil Company and the Bahregan region. The report suggests that Javad Owji, the minister, and other officials of the Ministry of Oil had not responded to these protests and the protesters' demands by Tuesday. Low wages compared to the rising prices in Iran have led to protests from workers and other wage earners in the country. Contractual and corporate employees of Iran Telecommunications also protested in several cities. Workers at the Abadan petrochemical plant and Razih Company went on strike; temporary contract employees of the Ministry of Oil held protests; ongoing professional protests; workers, retirees, and other groups demanded attention to their demands; ongoing livelihood protests; employees of the 'Abfa' company in Shush held a protest.
