Continued Rocket Fire from Lebanon; Israel Targets Hezbollah Bases

Israeli fighter jets targeted Hezbollah bases in response to rocket fire from southern Lebanon on Friday, after identifying the launch sites. According to CNN, the Israeli army stated that in response to the rocket fire from Lebanon, a military complex near the city of Maroun, along with 'terrorist infrastructure' in the Laboune area and another military base, were targeted in airstrikes. The Israeli army reported, 'Following the attack on the military base, secondary explosions were observed, indicating that an ammunition depot within the base was hit.' While no reports of casualties from either side have been released, Hezbollah confirmed via a post on its Telegram channel that it also conducted artillery attacks on Israeli military positions. Hezbollah, the militia affiliated with the Islamic Republic, has carried out deadly cross-border attacks on Israel for months, resulting in tens of thousands of residents in southern Lebanon and Israel being displaced from their homes. Recently, Amos Hochstein, the U.S. special envoy, warned in Beirut about the risk of escalating conflicts in the region, stating that the Gaza ceasefire does not necessarily mean an end to hostilities along the southern Lebanon-Israel border. Hochstein noted the increase in border clashes in recent weeks, saying, 'A temporary ceasefire is not enough. A limited war is not manageable.' After meeting with Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, who is close to Hezbollah, he told reporters, 'An escalation of violence benefits no one, and there is no such thing as a limited war.'
