Continued Threat of Islamic Republic Proxies in Iraq; America Only Understands the Language of Weapons

Iraqi warlike groups supported by the Islamic Republic, calling themselves the 'Islamic Resistance of Iraq', issued a warning and ultimatum to the United States to withdraw its military forces from the country as soon as possible. In this statement, they referred to Iraq as a 'sacred land' and claimed that American forces and their allies in the coalition were brought to the brink of collapse due to large bombings and attacks by 'resistance forces' before 2011, and that they later remained in Iraq through 'pleading' and 'mediation'. The statement read: 'Recent events have revealed a bitter reality for the people of Iraq, allies, and other parties, showing that the United States is in no way remorseful for its actions and only understands the language of weapons.' This statement was issued in response to U.S. military attacks on Quds Force elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated militia groups in Iraq and Syria on Saturday morning, February 3. In those airstrikes, American forces destroyed over 85 sites, including command and control operation centers, intelligence centers, rocket and missile depots, drone storage facilities, and supply chain and ammunition facilities of Iraqi militia groups and supporters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Yahya Rasool, the military spokesperson for Iraq, deemed the U.S. airstrikes a violation of his country's sovereignty, stating that this action undermines the efforts of the Iraqi government and poses a threat that could lead Iraq and the region to dire consequences. U.S. President Joe Biden, following the operations of the American military in Iraq and Syria, issued a statement saying: 'The attacks were carried out at my order and will continue at other times and places, wherever we want.' These strikes were in retaliation for a drone attack last Sunday on the American base 'Tower 22' at the Jordan-Syria border, which resulted in the deaths of three American soldiers and injuries to about 40 others.
