According to AFP, Rutte's comments came after violence escalated between Israeli fans and individuals he described as 'with immigrant backgrounds' riding scooters in various areas of Amsterdam. According to Reuters, Maccabi fans attacked a taxi on Wednesday and burned a Palestinian flag in Amsterdam. Videos of Maccabi fans chanting anti-Arab slogans on game day were confirmed by Reuters. Israel has urged its citizens not to attend the football match with France, and the Netherlands is investigating the 'disregard for Israeli warnings' prior to the Amsterdam incidents.
