Court of Appeals Confirms Imprisonment and Other Restrictions on Lawyer Fatemeh Sepahri

The Court of Appeals of Razavi Khorasan Province on Saturday, January 30, confirmed the sentences issued by the lower court against Khosrow Alikordi, a lawyer representing Fatemeh Sepahri, the family of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh, and several other political prisoners. The 35th Branch of the Court of Appeals of Razavi Khorasan Province has also labeled the charges against this lawyer as 'propaganda activities in favor of groups opposing the Islamic Republic' and conducting interviews with Persian-language television channels outside of Iran. Khosrow Alikordi detailed the restrictions on his legal practice in an interview with Voice of America on January 27, stating that 'accepting the legal representation of the families of the victims of last year's nationwide protests, including Abolfazl Adinehzadeh and Erfan Rezaei Navayi,' as well as 'representing Fatemeh Sepahri and her brothers Mohammad Hossein and Hossein Sepahri' are the main reasons the judge deemed these charges 'provable.' Khosrow Alikordi was arrested on August 1 of this year after appearing at Branch 901 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Mashhad and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison in the city. He was released on bail on August 14 and was tried on November 22 at the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad.
