Critical Condition of Morteza Parvin in Evin Prison; Family: He is Experiencing 'Low Blood Pressure and Unconsciousness'

Mojtaba Parvin, the brother of Morteza Parvin, an Azerbaijani activist imprisoned in Evin, declared his condition as 'critical.' According to the Azerbaijani Political Prisoners Defense Association (ADAP), the brother of this political prisoner stated in a video file that Morteza Parvin informed him during a brief call about his transfer to the 'prison health facility' in Evin. Based on this, and according to the brother of this Azerbaijani activist, he is facing 'low blood pressure and unconsciousness' following a 'multi-day hunger strike.' Morteza Parvin, an artist and Azerbaijani activist, was arrested on February 6 in Ardabil and began a hunger strike after being transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison in Tehran. Simultaneously, dozens of Azerbaijani civil activists have called for Morteza Parvin's unconditional release by posting separate videos on their Instagram pages. Relatives of this imprisoned activist have also told ADAP that the reason for Morteza Parvin's hunger strike is the 'discrepancy between the heavy charges against him and his activities.' On the other hand, ADAP announced that Aydin (Suleiman) Mohammadi and Saeed Doostan, two of the detainees from mid-February who were transferred to 'Ward 209 of Evin Prison,' were released on Sunday, March 4, after posting bail of 800 million tomans and 300 million tomans, respectively. According to the human rights website Hengaw, Aydin (Suleiman) Mohammadi was arrested at his workplace and then transferred to one of the intelligence department's detention centers in Ardabil. He was later transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran. Saeed Doostan, a resident of Ardabil, was also arrested on February 12 after being summoned to the first branch of the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office in this city. He was arrested on June 27, 2020, by the Ministry of Intelligence forces in Urmia and was sentenced by the second branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court to 13 months for 'propaganda against the regime,' 3 years for 'insulting the leadership,' and 10 years for 'collaborating with hostile groups.'
