Cyber Attack Disrupts Several Internet Services

Reports indicate that on Friday, a cyber attack on the internet service company "Dyn" in the United States caused disruptions to numerous internet services, including Twitter, PayPal, Amazon, and Netflix. According to Reuters, the lesser-known company "Dyn," which provides internet services to some of the world's most visited websites, stated that the attack initially began in the eastern United States and then spread across the country. The company claims it does not know who or which group carried out these cyber attacks. "Dyn," headquartered in New Hampshire, added that it was initially able to control the attack on Friday morning, which disrupted services for two hours, but the second attack that occurred on Friday evening caused more damage. The company also announced on Friday night that it was dealing with a third wave of the attack, which is being orchestrated from various parts of the world. "Dyn" emphasized that this attack was conducted through millions of computers, webcams, and printers worldwide, launching a massive assault on a server to incapacitate it. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced on Friday that it is still unclear which group executed this cyber attack, but the department is investigating "all available possibilities." According to Reuters, these cyber attacks come amid rising concerns over cyber threats in the U.S. in recent months, with hackers breaching several emails of institutions, parties, and individuals. Last month, as the U.S. elections approached, security officials issued multiple warnings regarding cyber threats. In this context, the FBI warned about the complex attacks by Iranian hackers.
