Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, bordering Iraq, has oil fields and is considered a strategic province in the country, holding particular importance for the groups involved in the 13-year civil war. This province is under the control of Syrian forces and Iran-backed militias and has always been under Israeli attacks. The main targets of recent Israeli attacks in Syria have primarily been Syrian forces or Iran-backed militias. In this context, Israel has repeatedly targeted airports, including those in Damascus, the capital of Syria. However, Israel rarely confirms its role in these attacks. Iran-backed militants have been accused of expanding the drug network in Syria.
