Danish Ambassador Summoned Following 'Assault on Iranian Embassy' in Copenhagen

Bahram Qasemi, the spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, stated on Thursday that the Danish ambassador in Tehran has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where Iran's protest regarding the assault on its embassy in Copenhagen was conveyed to him. According to IRNA, Qasemi wrote on his Telegram channel that on Thursday, 'four anti-revolutionary elements assaulted the Iranian embassy in Copenhagen.' He did not provide further details about the identity of the four Iranians or how they 'assaulted' the Iranian embassy building. The Associated Press also reported that it could not reach Danish officials for comment on this matter. Referring to this 'assault,' the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said: 'This afternoon, the head of the Northern and Eastern Europe Department of the Foreign Ministry summoned the Danish ambassador in Tehran and, while conveying a strong protest against this action, which is contrary to accepted international norms and the weak performance in ensuring the security and tranquility of the embassy and its personnel, called for a responsible and serious response from the Danish government to the perpetrators of the assault and requested to be informed of the outcome.' Bahram Qasemi added: 'The Danish ambassador expressed regret, deeming the attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran's embassy unacceptable, and promised to convey the matter to Copenhagen as soon as possible and report back the results.' In April of this year, the Iranian Foreign Ministry also summoned the Danish chargé d'affaires in Tehran due to what it termed an 'assault' on the Iranian embassy. The Iranian Foreign Ministry had referred to the attackers as 'hostile individuals.'
