Daughters of Mousavi and Rahnavard: Mir Hossein Mousavi is Healthy and Under House Arrest

Following reports regarding the health status of Mir Hossein Mousavi, one of the candidates who contested the results of the 2009 presidential election, his daughters have stated in a statement that their father is healthy and under house arrest. According to a report on Thursday, October 8, by 'Kalemeh', a website close to Mir Hossein Mousavi, his daughters Zahra Rahnavard and Mir Hossein Mousavi stated: 'In response to the rumor about our father's illness, and being unaware of the origin of this rumor, during a visit we had with our parents last week, he was in complete physical health and had a high spirit.' The statement also mentioned: 'A few moments ago, the head of the prison guards, Akhtar, denied this rumor in a phone call with a family member.' The daughters of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard added that between their weekly visits with their parents, they have no contact with them. This statement was signed by Koukb, Zahra, and Narges, the three daughters of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard. Reports indicate that some websites inside Iran had recently published reports about the deteriorating health of Mir Hossein Mousavi. However, the Kalemeh website states, 'Investigations by Kalemeh from trusted sources indicate that Mir Hossein Mousavi is healthy and under house arrest, and the rumors regarding his health and transfer to the hospital are false.' Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, two candidates who contested the results of the 2009 Iranian presidential election, have been under house arrest since February 2011. Zahra Rahnavard, Mir Hossein Mousavi's wife, is also accompanying him in this detention. Mir Hossein Mousavi, who faced heart and gastrointestinal issues in May 2014, underwent angiography after being transferred to the hospital without the presence of his children.
