Deadly Attacks in Western Europe Since 2014

Reuters has published a list of some deadly attacks in Western Europe over the past two years: July 26, 2016: Two armed individuals in France initially took five people hostage and then killed two priests with a knife, severely injuring another hostage. This incident occurred in a church in northern France. François Hollande, the President of France, attributed the attack to ISIS supporters. On the same day, a patient in southwestern Berlin, Germany, attacked his treating physician, killing the doctor and then himself. German police stated that they found no evidence linking this shooting to terrorist groups. July 24, 2016: A 21-year-old Syrian migrant was arrested after killing a pregnant woman and injuring two others in Stuttgart, Germany. German police announced that based on the evidence currently available, there is no connection between this attack and terrorist groups. On the same day, another Syrian man injured fifteen people by detonating a bomb at a music festival in Ansbach, Germany. This 27-year-old had entered Germany two years prior and was to be deported to Bulgaria due to drug use and other crimes. He had a history of suicide attempts and mental disorders. July 22, 2016: An armed 18-year-old German-Iranian attacked a group in Munich, Germany, killing at least nine people. This teenager had no links to terrorist groups or radical Islamists, but according to police, he had a strong interest in mass killings. This massacre occurred on the fifth anniversary of the Norway massacre, which left 77 dead. July 18, 2016: A 17-year-old Afghan refugee in Germany attacked passengers on a train in southern Germany with an axe and knife. Before being killed by police, this teenager severely injured four individuals. ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack. July 14, 2016: A Tunisian-French armed man drove a truck into a crowd watching the Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, France, killing at least 84 people. ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack. June 14, 2016: A French man of Moroccan descent attacked the police chief in the suburbs of Paris, killing him and his partner. This knife attack was carried out by a man who told police he was following the orders of the self-proclaimed caliph of the Islamic State (ISIS). March 22, 2016: A suicide attack by three Belgian ISIS members shook Brussels Airport, the capital of Belgium, resulting in the deaths of 32 people. Police stated that this attack was a continuation of the November Paris attacks. November 13, 2015: Several terrorist attacks in Paris; these attacks, which occurred at three different locations in the city, killed 130 people and injured 368 others. Of the ten identified perpetrators of these attacks, two were Belgian nationals and three were from France. January 7-9, 2015: Two ISIS supporters attacked the satirical magazine 'Charlie Hebdo' in Paris, killing a total of 17 people. On the eighth of that month, one of the attackers killed a police officer in a supermarket. The next day, four more people were killed by these individuals. May 24, 2014: Four people were killed in a Jewish museum in the heart of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The attacker was a 29-year-old French Muslim who is currently awaiting trial in Belgium.
