Deadly Russian Attack on Zaporizhzhia; Power Cut for 20,000 Residents

Regional officials announced on Thursday, January 25, that one person was killed and 25 others injured in a drone and missile attack by Russia on the city of Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine. According to Reuters, power was cut for over 20,000 residents in the area due to this nighttime attack. Ivan Fedorov, the governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, stated that a significant energy facility was targeted in this attack and was completely destroyed. Zaporizhzhia is one of Ukraine's key cities in the southeastern part of the country, located near the front lines between Ukrainian and Russian forces. The city has witnessed numerous missile and drone attacks in recent months, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and civilians. As these attacks continue, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly called on the international community for support to mitigate the impact of the war on civilians and the country's critical infrastructure. Trump, in a post on his social media account 'Truth Social', stated that he loves the Russian people and has always had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia. He also highlighted Russia's important role in the victory of World War II, which claimed nearly 60 million lives, and expressed a desire to do a 'great favor' to Russia, whose economy is collapsing, and to Putin. According to the U.S. President, the time has come for an agreement to end this 'ridiculous war', which is worsening the situation. He added, 'If an agreement is not reached, I will soon have no choice but to impose taxes, tariffs, and heavy sanctions on everything sold by Russia to the United States and other countries.' Trump mentioned that if he were the President of the United States, there would never have been a war, and he called for its end.
