Death of a Military Officer in Attack on a Post in Rask; 'Jish al-Adl' Claims Responsibility

Following an attack on the 'Bideld' post in Rask County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, resulting in the death of a military officer, the group 'Jish al-Adl' has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to several informed news sources, including the 'Baloch Activists Campaign', the website 'Halosh', and the Telegram channel 'Rasad Balochistan', a military officer named 'Amir Hossein Hossein Abadi' from Zabol was killed in this three-hour-long clash. The state news agency 'IRNA' reported that the attack occurred at 1:30 AM today, Wednesday, January 20. This is the second attack by armed individuals on border posts in Rask County in the past month. On Friday, December 15, the prosecutor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province reported an armed attack on a police headquarters in Rask County, stating that 12 police officers were killed and 7 others wounded in that incident. The armed group 'Jish al-Adl' also claimed responsibility for that attack, announcing through a statement on their Telegram channel that their forces attacked the police command headquarters in Rask County at 2 AM on Friday under a unit called 'Strategic Battalion of the Fadaiyan of Divine Justice'. The 'Jish al-Adl' group had previously attacked Police Station 16 in Zahedan on July 7. The group, formerly known as 'Jundallah', has been designated as a 'terrorist' organization by the United States for about 13 years. Since its establishment approximately 20 years ago, it has participated in numerous attacks resulting in the deaths and injuries of several Iranian government forces and civilians. The group's stated goals include 'ensuring the recognition of the cultural, economic, and political rights of the Baloch people by the Iranian government' and 'raising awareness about the difficult situation of the Baloch people'. About 11 years ago, the group changed its name to 'Jish al-Adl' and has since claimed responsibility for attacks under this name. Details of the armed attack and clash in Rask, Sistan and Baluchestan were discussed with Shir Ahmad Shirani, highlighting the heightened security situation in Rask and the presence of military helicopters in the sky following the attack on the police command. The newspaper Kayhan has called for action against Molavi Abdulhamid in light of the attack on the post in Rask.
