Death of Anoushiravan Arjmand, Actor in Cinema and Television

Anoushiravan Arjmand, an Iranian actor in cinema and television, passed away on Sunday, December 23, at the age of 73. Mr. Arjmand was transferred to Parsian Hospital in Tehran in early December and had been hospitalized in the ICU since then. The actor had suffered a heart attack, which doctors managed to treat, but due to a history of lung problems, he remained in the hospital until today. He was born in October 1941 in Zahedan and was the older brother of Dariush Arjmand, another Iranian actor. His son, Borzou Arjmand, and daughter, Bahar Arjmand, are also actors in cinema, television, and theater. Anoushiravan Arjmand began his career as an actor and theater director in Mashhad in the late 1960s. His notable films include 'Duel', 'The Game Rule', 'Breakfast for Two', 'Poisonous Mushroom', and 'Mohya'. He also acted in television series such as 'Mokhtarnameh', 'Imam Ali', 'Once Upon a Time', 'Ayarans', and 'Kamand Khaterat'. Following his death, many figures from cinema, theater, and television expressed their condolences. Hojjatollah Ayubi, the head of the Cinema Organization, wrote in a message: 'A true artist rises from the heart of society and carries the pains and joys of the people on their shoulders. Therefore, speaking about a great artist like Anoushiravan Arjmand is not an easy task. I believe that the resilience of culture and art in this land owes much to the endurance of such artists.' Additionally, the director of the Performing Arts Office also sent a message of condolence for Arjmand's passing. In part of his message, Hossein Taheri stated: 'Once again, painful news has arrived. This time, it is the news of the departure of a dear one for whom theater was an inseparable part of his fruitful life. His half-century of fruitful presence at the forefront of the performing arts in this land confirms this point...'
