Deployment of Special Police Forces in Various Locations in Tehran

According to reports from Tehran, special police forces are widely present in various parts of the city, especially at metro stations, and at the same time, the commander of the special forces of the police has stated that the deployment of these forces will likely continue until Friday. Brigadier General Hassan Karami, commander of the special forces of the police, stated in an interview with the Fars news agency on Wednesday evening, October 4, that the reason for the presence of these forces in Tehran is to 'prevent threats.' He also emphasized the need for readiness for 'deterrence' in light of the attack that occurred on Saturday in Ahvaz. The ISIS group, which claimed responsibility for the attack on the Ahvaz parade, has threatened in an audio message that this incident will not be the last attack by this group in Iran. The attack on the military parade in Ahvaz took place on Saturday and left 24 dead. Iranian officials, in contradictory statements, eventually announced that all five attackers in this incident had been killed. Iranian officials also made varying statements regarding the perpetrators of this attack, initially attributing it to a group known as the 'Arab Liberation Movement of Ahvaz.' However, shortly after, several Iranian officials, including Kazem Nasab al-Bajai, the representative of Ahvaz in the parliament, stated that considering the 'ideological and religious language' heard in the video released by the attackers, this incident cannot be attributed to the 'Ahvazi' group. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack by releasing a video of statements from three of the attackers, stating that the attackers were 'soldiers of the caliphate.' Brigadier General Hassan Karami emphasized the necessity of 'physical presence' and stated, 'If the enemy has an intention, we must be able to maintain the necessary deterrent posture.' According to Mr. Karami, the presence of special forces in various areas of Tehran was determined by the command of Tehran. Some social media users have also noted their observations regarding the Tehran derby match scheduled for Thursday evening between the two football teams, Esteghlal and Persepolis, at Azadi Stadium. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, intensified his verbal attacks against the United States, referring to the perpetrators of the Ahvaz attack as individuals who, according to him, 'have their hands in the pockets of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.' However, Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, rejected the accusation of U.S. involvement in this attack and urged the leaders of the Islamic Republic to take a closer look at their own actions to understand the reasons for this incident. The United Nations Security Council condemned the Ahvaz attack as 'terrorist, heinous, and cowardly.'
