Detained for Celebrating National Team's Loss; Three of the Four Detainees in Javanrud are Children

The human rights organization 'Hengaw' reported the identification of the third child detained for celebrating Iran's football team's defeat against Qatar, stating that three out of the four detainees in Javanrud are children under 18 years old. According to Hengaw, the fourth identified individual is 17-year-old Diako Behroujeh from Javanrud, who was arrested by security forces on Wednesday, February 7. This human rights organization had previously reported the detention of 17-year-old Mohammad Yousafi and 21-year-old Hamzeh Barzgar on February 7, as well as the arrest of 16-year-old Mohammad Mahmoudi on Wednesday, February 14. Hengaw announced that at least 10 children and adolescents have been detained in this context and transferred to the correctional center in Kermanshah and the Dizelabad prison in this city. Following the national football team's loss on February 7 and their failure to advance to the final of the Asian Cup, people took to the streets in several cities in Iran, including Kurdish cities, to express their happiness. Yasser Noori, an environmental activist from Javanrud, was sentenced to four months in prison. A human rights organization reported that 162 Kurdish citizens were detained this September. Reactions to Iran's loss against Qatar included tears and smiles from fans and critics. The national football team of Iran is under the clear control of security and intelligence forces.
