Deteriorating Health of Manouchehr Bakhtiari in Prison Due to Urinary Obstruction and Severe Blood Pressure Drop

Manouchehr Bakhtiari's wife reported the worsening health of the father of the justice-seeking Pouya Bakhtiari in prison, stating that this political prisoner has 'collapsed and fallen to the ground' due to urinary obstruction and a severe drop in blood pressure. Sara Abassi, Manouchehr Bakhtiari's wife, wrote on her Instagram account on Thursday, February 15, that 'today' this political prisoner told her during a call that 'from 9 PM last night until 10 AM today, due to urinary obstruction, severe pain, and a significant drop in blood pressure, he collapsed and fell to the ground, but has been deprived of medical attention.' According to her, the authorities at Chobin-Dar Prison in Qazvin have 'only said that they will send him back to forensic medicine.' Manouchehr Bakhtiari's wife added that 'the two times he was previously taken to forensic medicine,' despite 'forensic medicine stamping a letter stating he cannot endure prison and needs immediate surgery,' the 'judiciary and the prosecutor of Karaj did not grant him leave.' Sara Abassi also emphasized that Manouchehr Bakhtiari 'has been severely ill for about two years and urgently needs hernia and prostate surgery' and that 'Manouchehr Bakhtiari's life is in danger.' She stressed that 'the regime is trying to eliminate this political prisoner in complete silence due to his illness.' Sara Abassi also stated: 'Be his voice, as he has been and is the voice of the oppressed people of Iran.' Despite his dire physical condition, Manouchehr Bakhtiari was recently sentenced to another six months in prison on the charge of 'insulting the leadership,' and prior to that, due to renewed case fabrication, judicial authorities sentenced him to '18 years in prison and 74 lashes.'
