Discovery of a 30-ton Meteorite in Argentina

A meteorite weighing 38,800 kilograms has been discovered in Argentina. According to Science Alert, experts say this is one of the largest and heaviest meteorites ever found on Earth. The Daily Mail reports that this discovery occurred in an area about a thousand kilometers from Buenos Aires and relates to a meteor shower that occurred 4,000 years ago. The largest meteorite ever found on Earth was discovered in Namibia. This meteorite, known as Hoba, weighed over 66 tons. Although it has been completely unearthed, it has never been moved due to its immense weight. It is believed that Hoba struck the Earth around 80,000 years ago, with its age estimated to be between 190 and 410 million years. Another very heavy meteorite, also discovered in this region of Argentina, weighs 37 tons. This area, translated from Latin as 'Land of Paradise', is covered with remnants of both small and large meteorites. In this region, within an area measuring three kilometers wide and 19 kilometers long, over 26 meteorites have been discovered. These meteorites are remnants of a meteor shower that astronomers say occurred between 4,200 and 4,700 years ago. So far, nearly 100 tons of space rock have been discovered in this area.
