Trump has threatened that as president, he would order attacks on Iranian vessels that approach American ships in the Persian Gulf. These statements have faced criticism from Clinton. The Democratic candidate has also stated that ballistic tests in Iran are unacceptable to her and 'must be responded to decisively, including through the imposition of further sanctions.' The Obama administration, which will hand over power to the 45th president of the United States and his administration next January, has criticized Netanyahu's policies in some instances, including regarding settlement expansion or its approach to international demands for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
