Doctor from Tabriz's Confession to Murder 'Denied'

News agencies ISNA and ILNA, citing 'a close individual to the family' of Alireza Solhi, reported that the confession of this Tabriz doctor to the murder of his wife and grandmother is not true. The report, published on Sunday, November 9, states: 'The news of his confession is a complete lie. Unfortunately, some people, instead of pursuing accurate and precise news, are following rumors circulating among the public and sacrificing their media credibility and ethics for the sake of increasing audience and revenue.' Earlier that same day, Fars news agency reported, citing an 'informed source,' that the Tabriz doctor, who was said to have lost his wife and grandmother due to consuming suspicious sacrificial food, had 'confessed to being involved in the murder of these two.' Alireza Solhi is a Tabriz doctor who has gained fame on social media in recent years due to his beautifully written prescriptions for patients and his recommendation of Mohammad Reza Shajarian's songs for treatment. Previously, some officials had confirmed reports about the death of this doctor's wife and grandmother due to consuming 'suspicious sacrificial food.' The Minister of Health and the Chief Justice of East Azerbaijan had also announced that they were pursuing this case. The local website 'Asr Tabriz' was one of the first media outlets to publish the news of the death of two family members of this Tabriz doctor on October 10. This website reported that 'an unidentified individual visited this doctor's office and delivered food that was apparently contaminated with cyanide or rice pills,' which caused several family members to suffer poisoning and be transferred to the hospital. ILNA news agency identified Mr. Solhi as a political activist from East Azerbaijan and a member of the 'Unity of the Nation' party, confirming the death of two of his family members based on his relatives' statements. At that time, Jamal Hosseini, the public relations manager of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, told Mehr news agency that 'the food poisoning of this family has been confirmed and established.' However, on November 7, the health online site quoted one of Alireza Solhi's friends stating that this doctor had been arrested and detectives were interrogating him. According to this friend of Mr. Solhi, he had no disputes with his wife.
