Donald Trump: Iran is Currently in Complete Turmoil

The President of the United States stated on Wednesday, September 4, that he cannot predict what will happen regarding Iran and does not care whether Iranian leaders want to talk to him or not. According to Reuters, Donald Trump made these remarks before meeting with the Emir of Kuwait in Washington. He said, "Iran is currently in complete turmoil. They are only thinking about saving themselves as a country." The U.S. President emphasized, "We will see what happens regarding Iran. Whether they want to talk or not depends on them, not on me. I will always be available, but it doesn't matter whether it happens or not." When asked if there is a possibility of meeting with Hassan Rouhani, his Iranian counterpart, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, he said, "Maybe. Anything is possible. We will see." Trump had previously expressed his readiness to meet without conditions with Iranian leaders regarding the disputes between the two countries. However, Iranian officials, especially Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, rejected this offer. On May 8 of this year, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the JCPOA and reinstated the first round of suspended sanctions against Iran in mid-August. He has stated that he seeks a comprehensive agreement with Iran regarding its nuclear program, missile activities, and Tehran's role in the region. U.S. pressures in recent months and the reinstatement of sanctions against Tehran, along with internal mismanagement, have severely impacted Iran's national currency and economy. Recent statistics indicate that the value of the rial has decreased by more than 140% since the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, and the prices of various foreign currencies, essential goods, and raw materials have risen sharply. Various cities in Iran have witnessed protests from different segments of the population in recent months against rising prices and economic insecurity, but these protests have been suppressed by security and law enforcement agencies. The U.S. has announced that the second round of sanctions will be implemented from November 4 of this year, aiming to reduce Iran's oil sales to zero and significantly decrease Tehran's revenues.
