Donald Trump Nominates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health Secretary

Donald Trump, the elected President of the United States, announced on Thursday evening, Eastern Time, that he intends to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. According to the Associated Press, this decision gives Kennedy, an anti-vaccine activist, the responsibility of managing a large organization that oversees the safety of drugs, vaccines, food, medical research, and social programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. Trump stated in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, that for a long time, Americans have been under pressure from food industry groups and pharmaceutical companies that have used deception and misinformation in public health. He said Kennedy would make America 'great and healthy again.' Robert Kennedy Jr., who was previously a Democrat and ran as an independent candidate in this year's presidential election, withdrew from the race after agreeing with Trump to receive a role in his administration's health policy in exchange for Trump's endorsement. Donald Trump also introduced his nominees for Secretary of State and Director of National Intelligence. The House of Representatives remains under Republican control.
