Donald Trump Signs National Strategy for Counterterrorism

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, signed the 'National Strategy for Counterterrorism' on Thursday, highlighting the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran as one of his achievements in this area, stating that it provided 'windfall wealth to the Revolutionary Guard.' After signing the new U.S. strategy for combating terrorism, Trump said in a statement published on the White House website that during his administration, efforts to dismantle terrorists have accelerated. The 34-page document of the 'National Strategy for Counterterrorism' published on the White House website mentions Iran several times. Davood Hermidas Bavand, former head of the UN General Assembly's Legal Committee and spokesperson for the National Front of Iran, stated that the ruling of the Hague Court strengthens the European position regarding the JCPOA. This international law professor noted that the ruling covers specific areas and addresses significant issues such as agriculture, medical supplies, aviation, and banking relations. He added that the international court's position is psychologically, legally, and relatively favorable for Iran in global public opinion and will also strengthen Europe's position, which has previously called for the U.S. to return to the JCPOA. Abdolnaser Hemmati, the head of the Central Bank, stated that Iran and Russia are seeking to gradually eliminate the dollar and other currencies in their trade relations. Hemmati mentioned that currently, 25% of the exchanges between the two countries are conducted in their national currencies. He pointed out that despite U.S. sanctions against Iran and Russia, there are conditions to expand bilateral relations and overcome pressures. A study conducted from 2011 to 2017 revealed that 259 people lost their lives while taking selfies. According to research from the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, 85% of the victims were aged between 10 to 30 years. Faramarz Tofighi, head of the Wage Committee of the Supreme Council of Labor, stated that workers' wages have lost 90% of their purchasing power. He reported that as of October 6, workers' wages have decreased by 90% compared to the end of the previous year. Democratic senators found the FBI's investigation results regarding sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh disappointing. Christine Ford, a classmate of Kavanaugh, testified before the Senate committee that Kavanaugh attempted to assault her. Kavanaugh has denied all allegations. An Iranian agriculture ministry advisor reported that food smuggling from Iran has increased by 700% since the economic crisis began, and live animal smuggling has risen by 400%. He claimed that 'enemies' are trying to create a form of artificial famine in the country. Despite distributing 20% more animal feed than last year, shortages are still being observed. Since April, the exchange rates of foreign currencies have surged, and the prices of essential goods have risen. The U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA and other factors have contributed to the economic problems in Iran. Hamidreza Kashfi, deputy director of the Engineering and Water and Wastewater Company, stated that due to the current drought and climate change, there is no choice but to move towards obtaining fresh water from seawater. He mentioned that studies conducted by the Ministry of Energy and the Engineering and Water and Wastewater Company have approved that in the first phase, the water needed for the 100-kilometer southern border areas must be entirely supplied from seawater. The U.S. Department of Justice has indicted seven members of the Russian military intelligence agency for involvement in cyberattacks. The U.S. claims that the agency targeted individuals and organizations that publicly supported sanctions against Russian athletes due to doping. Washington also attributed cyberattacks on a nuclear energy company in Pennsylvania and a chemical weapons laboratory in Switzerland to Russia. Britain accused the Russian military intelligence agency of conducting cyberattacks over the past years. The Netherlands announced that it expelled four Russian spies involved in cyberattacks in April. Ali Daei announced that he has been summoned to court regarding the reconstruction of earthquake-affected areas in Kermanshah. Daei stated on Instagram that after eleven months of round-the-clock efforts to build houses for earthquake victims, he was summoned to the authorities. He expressed that instead of supporting him in providing better services to needy compatriots, officials have only caused discouragement and disruption in this matter. Daei mentioned that the public donations, along with the accrued interest, amounted to 11 billion and 123 million tomans, and he has provided detailed accounts of the expenditures.
