Donald Trump's Domestic Security and Counterterrorism Advisor Resigns

Tom Bossert, Donald Trump's domestic security and counterterrorism advisor, has resigned from his position. The White House confirmed his resignation, but it is unclear whether he resigned or was fired. Bossert's resignation occurred on Tuesday, April 10, coinciding with the second day of John Bolton's official tenure as the National Security Advisor to the U.S. President. On Sunday, Bossert defended the President's decision to send the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border, stating that arrests of individuals crossing the border illegally had increased '200 times.' In an interview with ABC News, he mentioned that 'it's alarming... we're talking about 50,000 people who intended to cross the border illegally in just one month.' Bossert had faced criticism during the response to last year's devastating hurricanes in the U.S., but he responded that reports of slow aid to Puerto Rico were 'exaggerated.' White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated, 'Tom (Bossert) was with the White House to support homeland security against terrorist threats, increased cybersecurity, and responded to several unexpected natural disasters. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, thanked him for his patriotic service and wished him success.'
