Donald Trump's Reaction to Iran, Russia, and China's Naval Exercise: 'I Am Not Worried at All'

The President of the United States reacted to the joint naval exercise of China, Iran, and Russia near the waters of Chabahar port in southeastern Iran, stating that he is 'not at all' worried about the show of power from the three rivals of the U.S. In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, March 10, while aboard the presidential aircraft, he responded to a question about whether he was concerned about the joint exercise, saying: 'Not at all, because we are stronger than all of them. We have more power than all of them.' Russian and Chinese warships have entered Iranian waters to conduct the annual joint naval exercise, which strengthens military relations among the three countries. This maneuver, named 'Maritime Security Belt,' will take place near the shores of Chabahar, with the main phase starting on Tuesday, March 12, according to Tasnim news agency. Iran is deploying 10 vessels from the Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, while Russia has sent two destroyers and a support ship. China is also participating with a destroyer and a support ship. According to Iranian state media, military observers from Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Sri Lanka are also present at this exercise. The Chinese Ministry of Defense has stated that the exercise will include combat drills against maritime targets and joint rescue operations. Military officials say the goal of this maneuver is to strengthen trust among the armed forces of the participating countries. The new joint exercise comes amid the Supreme Leader of Iran's decision to reject negotiations with the U.S. over Iran's nuclear program, raising concerns about a potential new round of tensions between Tehran and Washington. Currently, Russia is pursuing negotiations with the Washington government regarding the war in Ukraine, while China is showcasing its power in the Far East and the Middle East as it redefines its strategy at the beginning of Donald Trump's leadership in the U.S. China and Russia, as two military superpowers, have a powerful navy compared to the limited naval capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, Russia is facing a shortage of weapons to continue its aggression in Ukraine and is in need of drones from Iran. The timing of the joint exercise between China, Russia, and Iran comes just a week after joint air force exercises by Israel and the U.S., which, according to Israeli media, were conducted to better prepare for a potential confrontation with Iran's nuclear program. In recent days, Donald Trump has emphasized that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons, stating that if this issue cannot be resolved through negotiation and political agreement, there is another (military) solution that will resolve the problem. The waters between Iran and Oman are strategically important for global maritime trade. The Strait of Hormuz, which leads to the Arabian Sea, is one of the key routes for oil exports. Last year, amid rising tensions with Israel, Iranian military commanders threatened to block this strait. Joint naval exercises between Iran, Russia, and China have been regularly held in March in recent years. While Russia is under international sanctions, its relationship with Iran has strengthened even more. Conducting military maneuvers in various parts of the world allows Moscow to showcase its military presence, even as a large portion of its forces are engaged in the war in Ukraine.
