Dozens Killed and Injured in Airstrike on Wedding Ceremony in Yemen

According to reports from Yemen, an airstrike on a wedding ceremony in an area controlled by the Houthis, which witnesses say was carried out by the 'Saudi-led coalition', has resulted in at least 13 deaths and 38 injuries. AFP, citing medical officials and witnesses on the scene, reported that the attack targeted a house in the city of Sanban in the Dhamar province, where the wedding was taking place. Sanban is located 100 kilometers from Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, and is under Houthi control. Medical officials speaking to AFP did not provide details of the attack. However, witnesses on the scene stated that it was an 'airstrike' carried out by the coalition supporting the government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. Witnesses reported hearing the sound of planes before the attack. The Al-Masirah network, controlled by Houthi rebels, also published similar statements on Twitter. The Associated Press, citing witnesses and 'independent security sources', reported that the number of civilian casualties was at least 15 dead and 25 injured. According to the Associated Press, two attacks were carried out targeting a tribal wedding of Houthi supporters. The coalition forces have not yet responded to these reports. The Saudi-led coalition had previously denied a similar report published ten days ago, which accused them of attacking a wedding ceremony that resulted in over 130 deaths. One day before the new report of the wedding attack, Amnesty International warned of the potential for 'war crimes' during the airstrikes by the Arab coalition and called for arms restrictions against its members. The organization has previously published reports of war crimes committed by the parties involved in Yemen.
