Dozens of 'Failed Attacks' by Russia on Ukraine in 24 Hours; Zelensky Would Fight 'to the Death'

The senior commander of the Ukrainian army announced on Sunday that his forces repelled 58 attacks by Putin's army aimed at breaking the front line from Bakhmut to Avdiivka and Marinka in southern Donetsk over the past 24 hours. A spokesperson for the Ukrainian army also stated on Saturday that the country's forces still control the key supply route to Bakhmut. Russian forces have been trying to control Bakhmut for 10 months. This devastated city had a population of 70,000 before Putin's invasion began. If Bakhmut falls under Russian control, the nearby city of Chasiv Yar will be the next target for the Russians, although this city is situated at a higher elevation and Ukrainian forces have built defensive fortifications around it. Meanwhile, Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group, recently warned in an interview that if Moscow does not provide them with more ammunition, some of their forces will retreat from around Bakhmut. Zelensky: 'I Would Fight to the Death' The President of Ukraine stated in a television interview that if the Russians had stormed his office at the beginning of the war, he would have fought to the death. Volodymyr Zelensky added that none of the defenders on Bankova Street, where the presidential office is located, would have been captured because they were all fully prepared to fight. Ukrainian officials reported several failed attempts by Russian intelligence units to enter Kyiv and specifically Bankova Street in the early days of the war. Other units of the Russian army also attacked around Kyiv but were unable to advance due to Ukrainian resistance.
