Early In-Person Voting Begins in the U.S. Presidential Election

With about six weeks remaining until the U.S. presidential election, the process of 'early in-person voting' has begun in some states. A number of voters participated in early voting on Friday, September 30, in Virginia, while a form of this voting was also held in Minnesota and South Dakota, where some 'mail-in voters' submitted their ballots in person. Most of the 50 states in the U.S. offer some form of early voting, which will continue until November 15, the last day of voting for this election. In about ten states, the opportunity for early in-person voting will only last until mid-October. According to Reuters, despite previous doubts expressed by Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, about early voting, the National Committee of the Republican Party welcomed this form of voting this year. Democrats have utilized early voting options in recent elections, securing millions of votes through this process. Based on a study from the University of Florida that included 24 states, in the 2022 presidential election, approximately 42.5% of early votes were cast for Democrats, while 33.8% were for Republicans. The main competitors in this year's presidential election are Kamala Harris from the Democratic Party and Donald Trump from the Republican Party.
