Economic Tension Among Leaders of the Islamic Republic; Government Media: 53% of People Do Not Know the Name of the Speaker of Parliament

Following an increase in public criticism of the performance of the Islamic Republic government and its expansion to the heads of the judiciary and legislative branches in recent days, the media of President Ebrahim Raisi reacted by publishing an article stating that "53%" of the people of Iran do not even know the "name of the Speaker of Parliament." The government newspaper "Iran," published in Tehran, wrote in its issue today, Tuesday, August 3, that studies from "polling centers" indicate the "weakening of the Parliament's position" due to the behavior of some representatives among the people, to the extent that "many Iranians do not even know the name of the Speaker of Parliament." This media, citing a "reliable poll" whose details were not published, stated that more than "53% of people" said they do not know the "name of the Speaker of Parliament!" It added that more than "68% of people" also said they are "not satisfied with the Parliament at all or are somewhat dissatisfied." The increasing inefficiencies of the Islamic Republic government, especially in the economic sphere, and the intensification of public dissatisfaction have led not only to opposition and critics of Ebrahim Raisi but also to heads of the government branches such as Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje'i and Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf joining the ranks of open dissenters against the executive branch of the Islamic Republic. According to the "House of the Nation" news agency affiliated with the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf criticized the performance of government sectors regarding the "situation of the chicken market" on August 2, stating that the price of chicken has reached "100,000 tomans" and people cannot find chicken in the market. According to the "Mizan" news agency affiliated with the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje'i also mentioned serious challenges and numerous public protests in the field of the Iranian stock market during a meeting of the "Supreme Judicial Council" on August 2, saying: "The Inspection Organization, the Supreme Stock Council, and the government should explain these issues to the people." With the intensification of inflation in Iran and the maximum pressure of prices on household livelihoods, the "Information" newspaper published in Tehran, whose director is appointed by Ali Khamenei, also wrote on August 1 in a "strongly worded" protest against the country's economic situation, asking, "When will the Raisi government think about solving the economic problems of the people?" The American magazine "Forbes" also introduced the Islamic Republic's "rial" as the "weakest currency in the world" on July 30, stating that after Iran, the currencies of Vietnam, Laos, Sierra Leone, Indonesia, and Lebanon rank second to sixth as the weakest currencies in the world.
