Eight-Month Uncertainty for Board Member of Tehran Bus Workers' Syndicate in Prison

The Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company criticized the eight-month uncertainty of Davood Razavi, a board member of this syndicate, in prison. In a report published on Wednesday, April 25, it noted that Davood Razavi has been suffering from a gastrointestinal illness and that the legal follow-ups by his family and lawyer have been fruitless. According to the report, this labor activist, who has been detained in Evin Prison since last October, was able to meet his family for the first time on April 23. The syndicate stated that the interrogator's attempt to intensify Razavi's case by introducing the charge of 'being a fugitive for five months' has heightened his family's concerns. The Syndicate of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company rejected this accusation, describing Davood Razavi as a 'well-known labor activist' who has committed no crime and is not a fugitive. The arrest of this syndicalist occurred amid nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini in the custody of the morality police and coincided with widespread arrests of civil activists, students, journalists, and political activists. Davood Razavi, who is considered an active member of the board of the Syndicate of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times due to his union activities. Two other members of the Syndicate, Reza Shahabi and Hassan Saidi, have also been imprisoned since last year on charges such as propaganda against the regime and actions against national security.
