Eight Protesters in Ilam Province Sentenced to a Total of 64 Years in Prison

Eight protesters from Abdanan, Dehloran, and Dareh Shahr in Ilam Province have been sentenced to a total of 64 years in prison. The human rights organization Hengaw has listed the names of these Kurdish citizens as Nasser Rezaei, Vahid Chavaran, Mohammad Hasan Haseli, Azim Yadgari, Saadollah Ayini, Hossein Bapirvand, Farshad Ayini, and Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh. According to the report, the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Ilam on Tuesday, January 8, sentenced Nasser Rezaei, Vahid Chavaran, and Mohammad Hasan Haseli, three imprisoned protesters from Abdanan, each to 12 years in prison and exile. As reported by Hengaw, Nasser Rezaei will be sent to Kerman Prison, Vahid Chavaran to Zahedan Prison, and Mohammad Hasan Haseli to Mashhad Prison. Additionally, four citizens from Dehloran have received sentences ranging from two to 12 years in prison. According to Hengaw, Saadollah Ayini has been sentenced to 12 years, Azim Yadgari to 10 years, and both Hossein Bapirvand and Farshad Ayini to two years in prison. Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh from Dareh Shahr has also been sentenced to two years in prison. No information has been released regarding the charges against these eight protesting citizens. In recent days, Pouran Nazemi, a human rights activist in Iran, told Voice of America that the Islamic Republic has no intention of compromising, reforming, or retreating regarding civil and political activists and popular protests. According to her, while the Islamic Republic is cutting off the economic lifeline of activists and political prisoners, the world remains indifferent to this issue, and a government that is the largest violator of human rights occupies the most important human rights seat in the world.
