Eighth Day of Hunger Strike in Evin Prison; Vrisheh Moradi's Health Condition Deteriorating

According to reports from the news agency Hrana, Vrisheh Moradi, a political prisoner in Evin Prison, is on her eighth day of hunger strike and is in poor physical condition. This human rights organization reported that a source close to Ms. Moradi's family stated, 'Her overall condition is critical.' Reports indicate that Vrisheh Moradi has been on hunger strike since October 11 in protest against her continued detention and uncertainty regarding her situation, as well as being deprived of visits with her family and lawyer. Vrisheh Moradi, a political prisoner accused of 'Baghi' through her membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Islamic Republic, is currently incarcerated. Her first court session was held on June 17 of this year in Branch 15 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court, presided over by Abolqasem Salavati, with the presence of her lawyers, and the second session took place on October 6. Ms. Moradi was arrested by the Islamic Republic's intelligence agents on July 31 of last year in the suburbs of Sanandaj and was transferred to Tehran. In January of the same year, after the end of her interrogation period, she was moved from Ward 209 of Evin Prison to the women's section of the prison. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has previously sentenced several political and ideological prisoners, such as Pakhshan Azizi, to death on charges of 'Baghi,' and some of them have been executed in recent years.
