Eighth Day of Protests: Continued Demonstrations in Tehran and Several Other Cities

Reports indicate that on the eighth day of protests, Tehran and several cities in Iran witnessed gatherings of demonstrators. Meanwhile, security measures in Tehran have been intensified in recent days. Images of protests in Tehran's Towhid Square and Azadi Street have been shared on social media, where protesters chanted slogans such as: 'Referendum, referendum, this is the people's slogan' and 'Death to Khamenei.' Simultaneously, images of a protest gathering at the intersection of Vali Asr Street and Jomhouri Street have also been released. Reports also indicate that protests were held in the cities of Boroujerd, Zarindasht in Isfahan, and Kermanshah. In Dezful, located in Khuzestan province, protests were held on Thursday. According to reports received by Radio Farda, this city has witnessed protests over the past three days. Reports and images shared on social media indicate that a protest was held on Thursday in Shiraz, where demonstrators chanted slogans such as: 'Death to the oppressor' and 'The nation begs, O Lord, you provide.' Reports indicate that a protest was also held in one of the streets in Isfahan, where protesters chanted 'Neither Gaza, nor Lebanon, my life is sacrificed for Iran.' The 'No to Inflation' protests initially began on Thursday, December 28, in Mashhad and several other cities, but as these gatherings continued, protesters began chanting political slogans against the leader and officials of the Islamic Republic in addition to economic slogans. Over the past eight days, Tehran and more than 90 cities in Iran have witnessed protests against the government and the economic situation. The crackdown on these protests has so far resulted in at least 22 deaths, and more than a thousand protesters have been arrested.
