Ejei: The Accusation of an Infiltrator in the Nuclear Negotiation Team Has Not Yet Been Proven

Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the spokesperson of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic, has confirmed that one person has been arrested as an 'infiltrator in Iran's nuclear negotiation team,' but 'this accusation has not yet been proven against him.' According to the Islamic Republic's official news agency (IRNA), Mr. Ejei stated on Sunday, September 7, that this individual is 'under judicial pursuit' but is currently free on 'bail.' Media outlets close to Iran's security institutions had previously reported that Abdolrasoul Daryaei Isfahani, an advisor to the Central Bank and an economic activist in Iran who had 'at times' accompanied the Islamic Republic's negotiation team in nuclear talks, has been arrested. Mr. Daryaei Isfahani initially called reports about his arrest 'ridiculous,' but the 'Bank-e Mardom' website and other sites that had republished his interview deleted it from their pages hours after it was published. Furthermore, Abbas Araghchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, without confirming or denying this news, called on the responsible institutions to be accountable in this matter. Meanwhile, Abdollah Hajisadeqi, the deputy representative of the Supreme Leader in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that a 'enemy spy' who 'was close to a member of the nuclear negotiation team and was receiving a salary from England' has been arrested. In another part of his remarks, the spokesperson of the Judiciary of Iran discussed the conditions for holding concerts specified by the Tehran prosecutor, stating that although the issuance of permits is with the Ministry of Culture, 'the issuance of a permit cannot prevent the commission of crimes.' Mr. Mohseni Ejei mentioned that 'if a concert is held and issues contrary to public decency arise during or after the performance, the police are obliged to intervene.' He added, 'If, according to reports from the intelligence system or any official agency, there is a report of actions contrary to public decency and security, the judiciary and the police have the duty to prevent the concert, and if they do not act, they will be held accountable.' The government of Hassan Rouhani has recently entered into a challenge over the Judiciary's and Friday prayer leaders' demands, especially in the city of Mashhad, for a ban on holding concerts. The spokesperson of the Judiciary also commented on the controversial issue known as 'astronomical salary slips,' stating that the Rouhani government has so far 'dismissed or transferred 15 individuals and has instructed a number to resign.' Mr. Ejei stated that 'another task of the government is to introduce offenders to the judiciary if they have committed a crime and to return the money,' but added that 'so far, not a single case of these offenses has been introduced to the judiciary, and it has not been stated how much money has been returned.'
