Elon Musk Announces Possibility of Removing Display of 'Likes' and 'Retweets' on X

Elon Musk, the owner of X, announced on Wednesday that he is considering the idea of removing the display of 'likes' and 'retweets' on user posts in this popular social media platform, previously known as Twitter. According to Reuters, if this decision is finalized, users will be able to see the number of likes or retweets on their posts, but these figures will not be visible to other users. Musk, speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Conference, also revealed that the social media platform X is a few months away from obtaining a license in New York for money transfers. He had previously stated that a new feature on X (formerly Twitter) would include sending and receiving money between users, which requires licensing in each U.S. state. Elon Musk, the famous American entrepreneur and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has implemented significant changes since acquiring Twitter and renaming it X. He has expressed his desire to create an 'all-in-one app' to surpass his competitor, 'Threads' owned by Meta. He previously mentioned plans to add video and audio calling services to X. One of the biggest changes Musk made was monetizing several of Twitter's free features, including granting a 'blue tick' to users for identity verification in exchange for payment. These changes have led many users to consider alternatives. At that time, Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, introduced its new social media platform called 'Threads.' Musk initiated the purchase of Twitter in April 2022 and ultimately acquired the popular social media platform on October 27 of that year, later changing its name to X at the end of July 2023.
