Elon Musk Mocked 'Barbie'; Conservative Attacks Over 'Lack of Masculinity' in Film

Elon Musk mocked the film 'Barbie' on Twitter (or 'X' or whatever he decides to rename it tomorrow). According to 'Hollywood Reporter', he wrote: 'If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word “patriarchy,” you’ll be passed out before the movie is over.' Musk's criticism of the film came in response to a meme comparing Twitter to the Barbie movie and its new name 'X'. However, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro angrily criticized the film over the weekend in a 43-minute YouTube video, which has been viewed 1.5 million times as of this report. Shapiro, while seething with anger, stated: 'If we want to consider it politically, the main issue of the film is that women and men are on opposite sides and hate each other. And in fact, [the film says] the only way you can have a happy world is if women pay attention to men and men ignore women.' He predicted: '[Barbie] will definitely fall off the cliff [of box office].' He firmly stated that the film's high sales would not be repeated. Shapiro also burned Barbie dolls in protest against the film, which led to much mockery and criticism online and on social media. Texas Senator Ted Cruz accused the filmmakers of 'catering to the Chinese Communist Party because they want to make money from the film's sales in China.' Cruz, while admitting he had not seen the film, pointed to the dotted lines on the map of China in the film that delineate the territories controlled by the Communist Party in the South China Sea. Matt Walsh, a commentator who created the anti-trans documentary 'What is a Woman?', called Barbie 'the most aggressive feminist and anti-male propaganda celebration ever made.' Ginger Goetz, wife of Matt Goetz, a Republican representative from Florida, criticized the film for its 'disappointingly' low masculinity or what she called 'lack of testosterone', and due to Ken being weak and 'submissive', called for a boycott of the Barbie film. However, it seems that the vast majority of Barbie viewers disagree with these criticisms. Barbie not only received a 90% positive rating from critics on the film review site 'Rotten Tomatoes', but also garnered a 90% positive audience score, making it a rare blockbuster at the top of superhero titles or franchise films in terms of both critical and audience reactions.
