Earlier, French police reported that a man had taken two people hostage in a shop in Paris and demanded to contact the Iranian embassy to send a message to the French government. This shop is located in central Paris, in the 10th district, which the French police immediately cordoned off following the hostage incident. No reports have yet been released on how the hostage situation ended, and it is unclear whether the hostage-taker surrendered or was surprised by special forces, but French police had informed the media that they were trying to negotiate with the hostage-taker. According to reports, the attacker initially took three people hostage, but one managed to escape after a struggle, although he sustained minor injuries. Reports also indicated that the hostage-taker had poured gasoline on his two hostages. No information about the identity, nationality, or appearance of the hostage-taker has been released, but police stated that he had requested to contact the Iranian embassy to send a message to the French government. The third hostage, who managed to escape, stated that the attacker had a letter he wanted to send to the French government through the Iranian embassy. However, officials from the French Ministry of the Interior said that 'his demands were really vague and irrelevant.' Nevertheless, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced its willingness to cooperate with the French government to resolve the situation. According to ISNA news agency, Bahram Qasemi, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, stated: 'Given the importance of human lives and the humanitarian aspects of the issue, and upon the request and assessment of the French government and police, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris is ready to assist and cooperate with the French government.' Previously, French police had stated that it did not appear that there were terrorist motives behind this incident. AFP also reported, citing sources involved in the situation, that initial police assessments strengthen the suspicion that the hostage-taker likely lacks mental stability, and his motives are currently unclear.
