Evacuation of a Terminal at Copenhagen Airport Following Discovery of Suspicious Luggage

In continuation of the heightened security situation in Europe following the Paris terrorist attacks, the Danish police evacuated one of the terminals at Copenhagen Airport on Wednesday after finding a suspicious suitcase. A spokesperson for the Danish police told AFP that this incident occurred on Wednesday, November 17. However, according to this police official, the police had not received any 'direct threat' regarding the matter. The evacuation of the airport terminal in the Danish capital occurred just hours after the security threat level in Denmark was raised to level two. Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, also witnessed several terrorist attacks against its citizens and Jews living there last year, resulting in two deaths and several injuries. The night before this incident, a friendly match between the national football teams of Germany and the Netherlands, scheduled to take place in Hanover, Germany, was canceled due to the discovery of a suspicious package. Simultaneously, two Air France flights from the United States to Denmark were forced to make emergency landings following a terrorist threat. The level of security status and measures in various European countries has significantly increased following the attacks in Paris last Friday. In a series of terrorist attacks across different locations in the French capital, described as the worst terrorist incident in the contemporary history of the country, at least 129 people were killed and dozens more injured.
