Exclusive; Arsham Rezaei Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison and Fined

An informed source, who requested anonymity, told Voice of America that Arsham Rezaei, a constitutionalist activist currently in Evin Prison, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined 88 million tomans. According to the report, Rezaei's convictions include 5 years for conspiracy and collusion, and 5 years for inciting the public to violence and bloodshed. Other convictions related to the widespread protests of 2022 include one year for propaganda against the regime, two years for obtaining property through unlawful means, and an additional two years for spreading falsehoods. Rezaei's communication devices, including two mobile phones and a modem, have also been confiscated. This constitutionalist activist was arrested in October 2022 during extensive nationwide protests by 'two cars full of agents' in Fardis, Alborz Province, and has been in detention since then. Previously, Rezaei's interrogation session was held on Saturday, December 4, in the third branch of the Evin Prosecutor's Office. In this session, Rezaei defended himself against charges including 'propaganda activities against the regime by supporting the Pahlavi family and raising the Lion and Sun flag,' 'spreading falsehoods,' 'disturbing public opinion,' 'conspiracy and collusion through membership in anti-regime groups,' and 'obtaining unlawful property amounting to 73 million tomans.'
