Exclusive Fox News Report: Obama Administration Prevented Arrest of Supporters of Iran's Nuclear Program in the U.S.

On Wednesday, Fox News claimed that "whistleblowers" informed two U.S. senators that the State Department under Barack Obama actively obstructed the execution of FBI warrants to arrest individuals in the United States who were illegally supporting the Islamic Republic's efforts to develop weapons of mass destruction. The digital section of this American news network, which is close to Republicans, published letters from Senator Chuck Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson to Antony Blinken, Secretary of State under Joe Biden, Christopher Wray, Director of the FBI, and Merrick Garland, the Attorney General. According to Fox News, the Obama administration initiated a program that acted as a negotiation process for the global powers' nuclear agreement with Iran or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed by Obama in 2015. At that time, Obama stated that extensive sanctions would remain in place and that the administration would enforce them rigorously. Over the past four decades, the United States has imposed sanctions against individuals, companies, and organizations, both Iranian and non-Iranian, for their involvement in nuclear activities, ballistic missile development, support for terrorist groups, and blatant human rights violations through various Republican and Democratic administrations. However, Senators Grassley and Johnson have received disclosures indicating that while the Obama administration publicly committed to preventing the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons, John Kerry, its Secretary of State, actively obstructed the execution of arrest warrants against violators of the Islamic Republic's sanctions by the FBI. According to these senators, records show that the Department of Justice and the FBI, including then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then-FBI Director James Comey, did not take necessary actions to stop Kerry's efforts to create obstacles in the enforcement of the law. An email from the FBI dated August 25, 2017, shows at least eight cases related to the Iran nuclear agreement where the FBI could have arrested individuals, but the State Department intervened. According to Fox News, this email indicates that in six of these cases, the FBI missed opportunities to arrest key individuals. The email describes that one of these individuals was on the terrorism watch list and another had returned to Iran. The email also claims that at least two of these individuals were only arrested after the State Department's obstruction was lifted and with the coming to power of the new administration under President Donald Trump. Senator Chuck Grassley stated that the obstructions in the arrest of those Iranian citizens were politically motivated. Are the JCPOA negotiations archived or underway?
