Exclusive Interview; The 'Invasion' of Security Agents into the Home of Kavous Seyed Emami as Narrated by the Family's Lawyer

The son of Kavous Seyed Emami reported on Monday about the 'invasion' of security agents into the home of this university professor who died in prison. These security agents, who had a judicial order, went to the home of Kavous Seyed Emami and his wife Maryam Mambini to 'film for the preparation of a movie.' Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, the Tehran prosecutor, stated on Tuesday: 'There must have been legal authorization for the actions taken.' Radio Farda interviewed Arash Keykhosravi, the lawyer for the Seyed Emami family, about the details of this filming incident. Several environmental activists, including Kavous Seyed Emami, a dual Iranian-Canadian citizen, professor at Imam Sadiq University, and director of the 'Persian Wildlife Heritage' institute, were arrested last February on charges of 'espionage.' Two weeks after Kavous Seyed Emami's arrest, on February 21, 2018, his family was informed that he had 'committed suicide' in prison. Meanwhile, Amnesty International considered the 'prevention of independent investigations' into the 'suspicious death' of Kavous Seyed Emami as a sign of a 'deliberate and planned effort to conceal any evidence of torture and murder.' Following Kavous Seyed Emami's death in prison, his wife Maryam Mambini was also banned from leaving the country and remains in Iran.
