Execution of 5 Prisoners in Iran; Transfer of 3 to Solitary Confinement for Execution

Human rights sources reported that judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic executed five prisoners in the provinces of Fars, Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Isfahan. Two prisoners were sentenced to death in Tehran, and three individuals were transferred to solitary confinement in Qazalhesar Prison for the execution of their sentences. The Human Rights Activists in Iran reported on Tuesday, February 29, that a prisoner named Ezzat Hosseini Dorki was executed by judicial authorities in Isfahan Central Prison (Dashtgerd). According to this report, Mr. Hosseini Dorki had 'spent over 10 years in prison' and was charged with drug-related offenses. Based on the report from the Iranian Human Rights Organization on Tuesday, February 29, the judiciary of the Islamic Republic executed a 34-year-old prisoner named Saeed Jokar for 'premeditated murder' at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz on Sunday morning, February 28. According to this report, Saeed Jokar was from Shiraz and had been imprisoned for about five years, being held in Ward 9 of Adelabad Prison. This human rights organization also reported on Tuesday that a prisoner named Ali Kord was executed by judicial authorities in Ramhormoz Prison in Khuzestan province. According to the report, Ali Kord, 31 years old, was from Baghemolk in Khuzestan and had two young children. He was arrested about three years ago on charges of 'premeditated murder' and had been in prison since then. The Iranian Human Rights Organization also announced that a 26-year-old prisoner named Milad Farahmandijoo was executed for 'premeditated murder' in Behbahan Prison. This prisoner had been detained five years ago at the age of 21, and his family offered '15 billion tomans and four houses' for forgiveness to the victims' family, which they did not accept. Therefore, the judicial authorities executed this young man on Saturday, February 27. This human rights organization also reported the execution of another prisoner named Younes Khairallahpour, who was executed for drug-related offenses in Aligudarz Prison in Lorestan province. According to this report, the judicial authorities executed Mr. Khairallahpour, who was 31 years old, on Thursday, February 25. The executions of these prisoners have not yet been announced by the Iranian authorities and have not been reflected in official news sources. The Human Rights Activists in Iran also reported that three prisoners in Qazalhesar were transferred to solitary confinement for execution related to drug offenses on Tuesday, February 29. This human rights organization also reported the confirmation of death sentences for two individuals charged with 'murder' in Tehran courts. According to the 'No to Execution Tuesdays' campaign, from February 22, 1402 to February 22 of this year, more than 1021 people have been executed by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic in Iran. Despite the fact that the judiciary of the Islamic Republic does not officially announce executions in many cases, according to evidence gathered by independent human rights organizations, the number of executions in Iran indicates that the government holds the first position globally in violating the right to life.
