Executions in the Prisons of the Islamic Republic Continue

Human rights media reported the execution of seven prisoners in the prisons of Adelabad in Shiraz, Sepidar in Ahvaz, Dashtgerd in Isfahan, and Golestan. The Iran Human Rights Organization, based in Norway, announced that three of these prisoners were sentenced to death for drug-related offenses, two for the charge of 'rape,' and two others for murder. According to the report, the executed individuals were Abbas Khodayari, Nasser Hosseini, Mohammad Chamanpira, Hamed Hariri, Reza Soleiman-zadeh, Tayeb Mansouri, and Ayat Abdol-Fathi. As reported, Khodayari, Hosseini, and Chamanpira were executed on Wednesday, October 3, in Adelabad prison in Shiraz, and Abdol-Fathi was executed in Sepidar prison in Ahvaz. Reports indicate that on Thursday, October 4, Hariri and Soleiman-zadeh were executed in Golestan prison, and Mansouri was executed in Dashtgerd prison in Isfahan. According to the Hengaw website, Khodayari and Hosseini were arrested three years ago and sentenced to death for possessing 110 kilograms of drugs. Abdol-Fathi was also arrested three years ago for drug-related charges and sentenced to death. The report states that Mohammad Chamanpira had been detained for five years for charges of 'rape' and 'murder' and sentenced to death. Hamed Hariri was sentenced to death three years ago for 'rape' and the murder of a girl. Soleiman-zadeh was arrested about three years ago for 'honor killing' and sentenced to death. Mansouri was also arrested three years ago for 'premeditated murder of his friend over financial issues' and sentenced to death. In another report, human rights media announced the execution of three prisoners, including a female victim (child marriage), who had previously been sentenced to death for drug-related offenses and murder in the prisons of Bam, Ahar, and Birjand. According to reports, Habibollah Mohammadi was executed early on Sunday, October 15, 1403, in Bam prison. Mohammadi was arrested in 2021 for drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Bam. The execution was carried out without the final meeting and visit with family. Additionally, the Iran Human Rights Organization reported that two prisoners, including a female victim (child marriage), were executed in the prisons of Birjand and Ahar. Their identities were reported as Akhtar Qurbanlou and Mojtaba Zaferani. Ms. Qurbanlou was executed on Tuesday, October 10, in Ahar prison, and Mr. Zaferani's execution was carried out on Sunday, October 8, in Birjand prison. The day before, human rights media reported the execution of three prisoners, including a woman, for drug-related offenses and murder in the prisons of Tabriz and Zanjan. The Iran Human Rights Organization announced that Zahra Faizi, 41 years old, Mostafa Kavandi, 39 years old, and Ali Bahrami, 36 years old, were executed. Reports indicate that Mostafa Kavandi and Ali Bahrami were sentenced to death for drug-related offenses. Zahra Faizi was arrested four years ago for the murder of her husband and subsequently sentenced to death. The news website HRANA reported in its annual report that in 1402, at least 767 citizens, including 21 women and 2 child offenders, were executed. Mahmoud Amiri-Moghadam, the director of the Iran Human Rights Organization, previously stated that the Islamic Republic executed at least 471 people last year for drug-related charges 'to intimidate society and prevent protests.' In this regard, more than 80 human rights organizations issued a statement requesting that the continued cooperation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime with the Islamic Republic be conditional on halting drug-related executions. In this context, the Hengaw human rights organization reported in May of this year a more than 300% increase in executions in Iran within a month, indicating the Islamic Republic's acceleration in executions.
