Exhibition 'Hair as a Symbol of Freedom' in Kadam, Czech Republic

An exhibition of works by Yasmin Golshani, an Iranian artist residing in the Czech Republic, titled 'Hair as a Symbol of Freedom' has opened at the museum in Kadam, Czech Republic (near the German border) in celebration of International Women's Day. This exhibition, which started on March 8 and will continue until May 11, includes 60 works from various periods of her protest art created from 1997 to the present in Paris and Prague. The different sections of this exhibition include the following collections: 'Women Protesting Compulsory Hijab', 'Eyes' (about self-censorship), 'Woman, Life, Freedom' (including 24 collage works), 'From the Vida Collection' (painting and collage), Artist Book (painting in the poetry book of Forough Farrokhzad), and a 40-meter scroll (on paper using handmade stamps). Additionally, a collaborative work with visitors is presented in which stamps of 'Woman, Life, Freedom' are provided in 9 languages. Visitors can create their own combinations of these stamps on cards and take them home. Stamping symbolizes a permanent record and creates a kind of commitment that encourages the audience to empathize and support this movement. Yasmin Golshani stated in an interview with Radio Farda about this exhibition: 'These works echo 46 years of struggle and courage of Iranian women. Artists of protest art reflect the voices of protesters and the people inside the country, aiming to attract the attention of European audiences for more solidarity and support.' She also expressed hope that this exhibition could be impactful and emphasized: 'Today, more than ever, we need the support and solidarity of men in the path to equality.'
