Explosion at Fuel Station in Saei Park, Tehran Leaves One Dead

An explosion at a gas station on Vali Asr Street near Saei Park in Tehran resulted in one fatality. The spokesperson for Tehran Fire Department reported on Sunday, September 4, that according to emergency services, a 55-year-old worker 'lost his life due to severe injuries sustained in this incident.' Jalal Maleki further stated that the incident occurred at 7:37 AM due to 'the accumulation of vapor in the fuel tank.' The spokesperson mentioned that the deceased intended to enter one of the tanks that had previously been emptied of gasoline, and the explosion occurred when an electrical device was turned on next to the tank before entry. In recent years, multiple cases of explosions and fires at fuel stations in Iran have been reported. For instance, a fuel station on 24 Meter Street in Ahvaz caught fire in June of this year, and another fuel station in Kerman was involved in a fire in April of this year on Khomeini Street. In most cases, a lack of necessary equipment and safety measures, as well as non-compliance with safety principles by citizens and even employees of these stations, are cited as the main reasons for the fires and explosions.
