Explosion at the National Olympic Academy Building in Tehran Claims Three Lives

An explosion in the engine room of the National Olympic Academy on Seoul Street in Tehran resulted in the deaths of three workers. The explosion occurred while the workers were performing repairs in the engine room of the academy. According to ISNA news agency, the sound of the explosion, which took place on Tuesday evening, August 7, was loud enough to be heard in nearby neighborhoods. Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson for Tehran Fire Department, reported that the explosion happened at 20:37 and that the workers were repairing one of the coolers when its tank exploded. Maleki reported that three workers, aged between 30 and 60, died instantly as a result of the explosion. These workers were working on chillers and tanks in the 300-square-meter building. He stated that the explosion did not cause a fire or structural damage to the building, but 'all the windows in that section were shattered.' The spokesperson for Tehran Fire Department also mentioned that firefighters had 'secured' the incident site and experts were investigating the incident. Fars news agency quoted a criminal court investigator stating that 'this event was in no way a security incident and was merely an accident during work.'
