Extensive Fire in Tehran Bazaar Leaves Three Injured

The spokesperson for Tehran's municipal fire department announced that a glue warehouse in the Seyed Vali Bazaar in the Pachenar neighborhood caught fire. According to him, the fire was 'fully ablaze' and 'extensive.' Seyed Vali Bazaar, located on a street of the same name in the Pachenar area of Tehran's bazaar district, is one of the 121 large markets in the capital and is dedicated to the production and sale of shoes. According to official reports, due to this fire and to control it, Tehran's traffic police have imposed traffic restrictions towards Golbandak intersection. The fire has spread to several warehouses and shops, and according to Babak Yekta-Porast, the deputy of Iran's Emergency Organization, at least three individuals have suffered burns of '50 to 70 percent.' Details regarding the extent of the damage from this fire have not yet been provided. Jalal Maleki, spokesperson for Tehran's fire department, stated that the fire is 'under control but has not been extinguished, and teams are engaged in mopping up and complete extinguishment.' The fire occurred at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 6, and 'given the extent of the fire,' personnel from '11 fire stations' and 'municipal agents from District 12' with 'several water tankers and support vehicles' worked to control the blaze. This official mentioned that the main source of the fire was 'a three-story building with several shops and warehouses covering over a thousand square meters' used for the production and storage of glue. He noted that this complex was among the unsafe buildings in the capital and had received warnings 'at least four or five times,' but 'it is clear from the type of electrical wiring' that 'no action was taken.' On June 2, nine people were injured following an explosion at a chemical reactor in the Eshtehard industrial town.
